Projects are like buses...and so the rest of the that saying goes.  Boy With a Beard has a busy time ahead of him with three new projects on the horizon.

Short film for Scheme Collective
I am going to be working with this talented bunch of filmmakers on their up coming short MONDAY MORNING.  BWAB will be undertaking behind the scenes stills and video duties on their shoot in August.  Looking forward to it immensely.   Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/schemecollective

Mentoring
What is lovely is that my old job as a Community Filmmaker is still alive and well as I have been approached to and will be mentoring a young person through the production of their five minute film for UScreen.  Really looking forward to this.
If you don't know UScreen and you are a young filmmaker you should.  "uScreen is a cutting edge fully accessible website which aims to provide young deaf and disabled (alongside non-disabled young people) aged 14-25 years the opportunities to share, learn and collaborate on film-making. .  The site which is made up of three specially created accessible film-making tools (3D Storyboard tool, Cutting Room and the Player Accessibility tool) will be supported by online and live events, expert mentoring, workshops and film festivals, so young people can meet new friends and make contacts with film-makers and specialists across the region. We also hope that young filmmakers will develop international partnerships through the online projects and exchanges."   It is well worth a look and something to get involved.  http://uscreen.co.uk/

Book Cover Design
I am also in the middle of mocking up sample designs for a book cover which is to be published later in the year.  The book is called "Armed" by Davie J Toothill and I am having great fun coming up with ideas and hopefully will be able to show some of my "working" out soon.

It has been a while since I last blogged about what I was up to.  Apart from moving house which is stressful as we all know and being in the hinterland existence of no internet until BT decide they want to flick a switch somewhere - Boy With a Beard has two new exciting projects on the horizon.  One is a Book Cover design and the other is a film project. That is all I can say for the moment - more details coming soon.  As I am sat in Costa Coffee and have made this medium coffee last an hour whilst I use their wifi I best leave it at that.

You will be able to see "Boy With a Beard" in a great new photography exhibition from the 1st August.

"Welcome to the Darkslide" is the new one man show by the great portrait photographer Rob Luckins and "Boy With a Beard" was flattered to have been photographed by Rob and have a photograph included in the show.

See the poster for details of where to come and see some great photography and a photo of me.

Yes, I do have a beard.

You can catch Rob's blog site here http://welcometothedarkslide.blogspot.co.uk/

Worth checking out.

"Boy with a Beard" is busy at work on the book Trailer for Sandra Murphy's "Nomads".

As the trailer is mainly motion graphics this means a day spent in front of Adobe After Effects/Photoshop drinking lots of coffee inputting key frames and making whooshing noises as I plan the effects tracks and music.  The inner "Star Wars" kid in me...

Once the camera motion has been sorted I will move on to the joy that is particle effects as I create swirling sand from pixels.  All the while hoping that my edit machine doesn't crash under the strain of my creative demands.

A day of great fun, caffeine, swearing and pushing my post production knowledge.

A sneak peek at "Boy with a Beards" current work.

I am in the concept stage of designing a book jacket and a video trailer for Sandra Murphy's short story Nomads.

More images to follow and eventually the trailer will be unveiled here on the Boy With a Beard website..

Stay tuned.

Boy with a Beard's happy association with the IGNITE anthonlogy continues.

As well as undertaking photography and video duties at the launch at the beginning of the month I was asked to adapt Sam Denmark's great cover design for the book signing that is to take place at Waterstones, West Quay in Southampton.

As the poster says the book signing will be taking place on June 9th from 11am.  So get down to Waterstones and buy a copy of the book to show support for up and coming new writing talent.

If you can't get to Waterstones you can buy a copy of the book on line at Amazon.co.uk as either a paperback or e-book.

Boy with a Beard will be filming and taking photographs at the book launch tonight (3/5/12) of an new anthology of writing called IGNITE.   The book can be pre-ordered HERE

Plus, very excited about going into pre-production on a Book Trailer.

More information to come on both of these so please check back.

Had a great shoot at the Vivid Starting Conference last week.  1414 photographs edited down to 300 later and my work on the conference is done.  You can see some of the results here.

Thanks to everyone involved from the delegates through to staff at Southampton Solent University especially Joe and Helen.  I had great fun.  More photographs will be added shortly to my Conference Photography page.

If you would like to talk about your conference or project needs please don't hesitate to get in touch.  You can contact me here

So after a couple of days of tests and watching everyone get ready - the Vivid Conference is upon us tomorrow.  Really looking forward to the challenge of getting shots of what is going to be a fascinating conference. I have got a few things to content with like low light condition and video screens but I am up for that.  Photographs from the day will be posted live during the conference (I will tweet the website for this tomorrow so check the Boy With a Beard Twitter Feed - @bwabfilms)  In the mean time below is a photograph of one of the members of the delegation I took today at the run through.
